Green suburban city offering great weather and tremendous views

Loaded with beauty and charm, Pleasanton is known for its central location amid the Tri-Valley area and its mild temperatures throughout the year. While home to more than 70,000 residents, Pleasanton offers an abundance of green space and parks. The city has quite a bit of history having been incorporated in 1894. The downtown area remains as quaint and comfy as it was many decades ago.

There are many different neighborhoods within the city, including the west's side Golden Eagle sections with executive and custom homes offering majestic views of the valley below. Centrally located, Pleasanton’s Birdland neighborhood offers 1,500-3,000-square-foot homes built in the mid-1960s to 1970s and is complete with its own sports complex. On the eastern edge of town lies the Ruby Hill gated community. With some of the largest homes and best views in the city, this neighborhood is home to the Ruby Hills Golf Course and Clubhouse.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

As executive chef and partner of Sabio on Main, Francis Hogan is a Level 1-certified sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. He has more than 20 years of experience in the kitchen, having traveled around Europe before landing in the Tri-Valley. Diners can choose from a la carte, the three-course, or five-course menus, and don't forget to check out the extensive wine list.

For a different culinary experience, try Baci Bistro and Bar with its modern take on classic Italian dishes, including pasta, seafood, and steaks. Visitors can dine in or out on the patio, and this hot spot is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Pleasanton is full of shopping venues, with an array of locally-owned downtown shops, offices, and large shopping centers spread out across the city. Stoneridge Shopping Center includes stores like Coach, Zara, and Lego alongside eateries like The Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Factory.

In the Pleasanton Gateway Shopping Center, look for spas like Sculptology and Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa. A special treat for the whole family is Mike's Bikes. And when you are hungry, you can stop in for a burger at Habit Burger Grill or lunch at Plucked Chicken and Beer.

Things to Do

With such wonderful weather, the Pleasanton Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. year-round. Look for fresh fruits and veggies, such as root vegetables, apples, pears, figs, and squash. Local merchants also offer jams, honey, olive oil, handcrafted cheese, and freshly cut flowers.

At the Firehouse Arts Center, enjoy viewing the latest art exhibition or take in a variety of live performances offered each month, including local youth, music, and improv theater groups, as well as individual comedians, magicians, and more. And if stand-up comedy is more your style, check out who's coming soon to Tommy T's Comedy Club.
